Do You Love Westerns, Historical Fiction, Crime Dramas, Suspense... (With A Smidgeon Of Romance)?
"The Photographer's Apprentice" is all of these and MORE!
I found this first novel, by Dan Eitreim to be a fascinating combination of story and history. The characters are believable and the storyline is fast paced and interesting. It was like going back in time and viewing that time frame through the eyes of those who actually lived it. Since Dan Eitreim is an accomplished photographer in our modern times, his account of photography's beginnings reminds us of the early days before iPhones and digital cameras. The historical insights into the aftermath of the Civil War and a country struggling to survive puts the struggles of the main characters into sharp focus. The emotional toll and courage of these average American citizens attempting to gain hold of a semblance of normalcy in a turbulent time is a tribute to human strength. I especially was impressed with the examples of love and kindness in a time of lawlessness in a difficult and dangerous environment. Mr Eitreim paints a picture with words as well as his photography.
I would recommend this book to anyone seeking a pleasant few hours of escape from today's world. I promise you will come away with a new appreciation for the tenacity of the human spirit....... Lynnieblue

For a first book by Dan Eitreim I found it to be very well written and an enjoyment to read. I usually read mystery/thrillers but found this to be equally entertaining. I would definitely recommend it as a read for anyone no matter what their interest in reading are. Thanks for this pleasurable read....Tony from Philly
This isn't the type of book that I normally read but I'm glad that I branched out from the genre that I have stayed with in the past. It was a pleasure to be absorbed in the story. Give it a try.... Sherig
Recently orphaned Jake Adams is happy, content and enjoying his work as a “Photographer's Apprentice” when he meets and is instantly enchanted by the girl of his dreams.
Dreaming of a life full of happiness and love, everything is dramatically (and forever) altered when he witnesses a brutal assault and murder. Before he can do anything to help, he is shot and left for dead.
Bleeding profusely and barely clinging to life, he struggles to make it back to town where he discovers that, in addition to being shot, he has been framed for the horrendous crime.
With a price on his head and the law on his tail, Jake has no choice but to run - totally unaware that he is also being hunted by another, even more sinister pursuer whose only intent is on killing him.
The suspense of the resulting cat and mouse chase will have you biting your fingernails and perched on the edge of your seat…
Will he survive his wounds?
Will he be captured?
Will he be lynched?
Will he find a way to prove his innocence?
This engrossing novel will provide you with many hours of pure reading pleasure.
Guaranteed... You will NOT be able to put this book down!

Good read. It had a captivating storyline and interesting characters. I enjoyed the historical aspects of early photography and post civil war struggles of men trying to return home....Rosan
Exciting. Excellent character development - I felt like I new each character personally with their strengths and character flaws all described - and there motivations for doing what they did. Several plot twists that I didn't see coming. Dan Eitreim's first novel was very well written!.... Steven J Weber
This is one of the best books I have read recently. The plots twists and turns were so unexpected and kept me glued to the book. I thoroughly enjoyed it.... JAG
When it started it seemed pretty straight forward. Then suddenly there were enough twists and turns to make it hard to put down. I'm sure many people were hung during the time period when people did things through rage rather than thought. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and ended up reading far into the night to finish it.... A lot to learn about how people survived after the Civil War. A truly unique story of how two people met and became co-workers and friends during the 1800's. Also if you like photography, you'll enjoy it.... Bus #2
Very good story. Would love to know more about the next stage in the characters' lives.... Bren
